DJ Ntshebe, born Thabo Makhubela, is a deep and soulful house DJ born in Soweto, Johannesburg and is currently based in Tembisa on the East Rand of Johannesburg.
He began his deejaying journey as a bedroom DJ in the late 90’s using cassette tapes and later moved on to using vinyls. Thabo’s popularity behind the decks started to grow, the recognition led to him deejaying at school functions and house parties around his neighbourhood. The money he made from paying gigs afforded him to the opportunity to re-invest in his craft in the form of buying music and a professional sound system.
DJ Ntshebe’s unique blend of deep and soulful house music soon attracted the attention of Voice of Tembisa, a local radio station where he had a mix slot weekly.
His repertoire of “expensive” music gradually built him a following and new friends. He formed a duo called DeepSoul Unlimited which went on to become one of the most loved deep house crews in the East Rand and greater Johannesburg area.
These experiences have allowed Ntshebe to grace the decks with his favourite industry peers and mentors such as: Vinny Davinci, Kid Fonque, Phat Jack & DJ China to name a few. He’s also managed to travel across South Africa, Lesotho & Botswana doing what he loves most – blessing the masses! Ntshebe’s Podcast – The 2 Hour Drive Series has a strong following and is usually topping the category ranks on Podomatic, he has also featured as a guest mix on popular podcasts such as The Ashmed Hour and Serenity Lounge Sessions.
He’s had the honour of gracing the most prestigious stages on the South African deep house scene such as Vuzu’s Hit Refresh TV show hosted by DJ Strategy, The Urban Beat Radio Show on Metro FM and Massiv Metro’s Car Wash Mix segment. Ntshebe has also held residencies at Gata Lenna (Tembisa), Barber Black Sheep (Rosebank), Duke’s Grill (Kempton Park) and Ekhoneni Car Wash (Tembisa).
